The Galleria Al Maryah Island Strengthens Community Ties In Partnership With Repton Abu Dhabi

The Galleria Al Maryah Island and Repton Abu Dhabi officially unveiled an art exhibition celebrating the Abu Dhabi community on Monday 24 February. Located on The Galleria’s south bridge between the destination’s dedicated Family Park and food court, the ceremony brought together students, teachers, parents and members of the community.

Ali Fikree, Chairman of Sowwah Square Properties; Gillian Hammond, Principal Repton Abu Dhabi; and the students who created the works unveiled five distinct pieces of art inspired by The Galleria’s architecture.

Ali Fikree commented, “The Galleria Al Maryah Island is a destination for the Abu Dhabi community and we are proud to partner with Repton Abu Dhabi to bring this art project to life. These vibrant installations represent the creativity of our youth and the dedication of their teachers and parents. We are delighted to strengthen these community ties by showcasing these pieces here at The Galleria.”

Gillian Hammond, Principal of Repton Abu Dhabi says, “Our core curriculum predominantly focuses on STEAM subjects to encourage our students to become innovative, problem-solving leaders of the future. By using digital technology to create flowers, our students have developed these five beautiful pieces of digital art that demonstrate their creative ability using mixed media. Understanding the concepts of digital art is a superb example of the possible future avenues and opportunities our students will have access to. As an Apple Distinguished school, it is important for our students to gain an understanding of real-world digital art applications, and this project has enabled every student in the school to have a collaborative input into these striking artworks. Today’s unveiling of this piece is a proud moment for every member of the Repton family, and one that has now become part of the cultural history of this country.”
